10 Years of Penney Financial
Penney Financial is proud to celebrate its 10-year anniversary, marking a decade of serving individuals and families with thoughtful, values-driven financial advice.
Founded in 2016 by Cameron Penney, the firm began with a simple but ambitious goal: to build a financial planning practice rooted in trust, clarity, and genuine care for the people it serves. Ten years later, that mission remains unchanged—even as the firm has grown significantly in size, scope, and impact.
Built on Faith, Character, and a Better Way
Penney Financial did not start with outside funding, a large client base, or a polished office. It started with conviction.
Cameron launched the firm with little more than faith, a belief that the industry could do better, and the support of his family—quite literally working out of his garage in the early days. As Cameron’s wife, Ashley, recalls, “You began with nothing but faith, a passion for a better way of providing financial advice, and only your parents as clients.”
From those humble beginnings, Penney Financial has grown to serve hundreds of families and oversee more than $300 million in assets under management—growth driven by consistency, discipline, and integrity.
A Culture That Puts People First—Clients and Team Alike
What sets Penney Financial apart isn’t just its growth, but how that growth has happened.
The firm’s culture has always emphasized humility, service, and doing the little things well. Practice Manager Michelle Smith notes that humility was listed as a required trait when she considered joining the firm—something rarely prioritized in the industry. “Cameron demonstrates this quality exceptionally well,” she shares, pointing to his hands-on approach and commitment to excellence, from writing his own newsletters to setting a tone that values both professionalism and joy.
That culture has attracted team members who share the same values and have grown alongside the firm.
Senior Associate Kali Prestwood joined Penney Financial in 2019 as a recent college graduate after searching for a firm that truly put clients first. “At the time, that felt almost impossible to find in the financial industry,” she recalls. Seven years later, she remains with the firm, crediting leadership that balances high standards with humor and humanity.
Senior Associate Josh Graber, who has known Cameron for more than two decades, echoes that sentiment. Despite coming from outside the financial industry, he felt confident joining the firm because of Cameron’s character. “There aren’t many people I’d feel confident hitching my wagon to,” he says. “Cameron is on the short list.”
Steady Leadership Through Every Season
Over the last ten years, Penney Financial has navigated market cycles, global uncertainty, and deeply personal moments alongside its clients—from major life transitions to periods of loss and grief.
Ashley reflects on Cameron’s steady presence during some of the firm’s most challenging seasons, including the volatility of COVID and moments when professional and personal milestones collided. “There have been many highs and lows over the past ten years,” she writes, “but never once have I regretted that we took this leap of faith together.”
That steadiness has defined the firm’s approach: planning before investing, discipline over prediction, and empathy over ego.
A Decade of Trust—and Looking Ahead
This anniversary is not just a celebration of longevity, but of trust earned over time.
Penney Financial’s success has been built one relationship at a time—by helping clients make thoughtful decisions, stay focused on what matters most, and move forward with confidence.
As the firm looks to the future, its commitment remains clear:
To continue delivering clear, personalized financial planning
To grow thoughtfully and responsibly
To serve clients, employees, and the broader community with integrity
As Ashley writes, “The Lord has entrusted you with this responsibility, and you have carried it with wisdom and integrity.”
Thank You
Penney Financial’s 10-year milestone belongs to the clients who placed their trust in the firm, the team members who helped build it, and the families who supported it behind the scenes.
To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you.
Here’s to the next decade of planning, partnership, and purpose.
